Copperas Cove: Students learn importance of agriculture

COPPERAS COVE, Texas (KWTX) This week, students in Copperas Cove learned about agriculture, and how much it affects their lives.

Around 300 fourth grade students from the Copperas Cove Independent School District learned everything from how a dairy cow produces milk, to how different crops are harvested.

They even learned how bees make honey.

These educational lessons were presented through the Kids Kows and More Program.

Presenters at the event said it’s important to teach children about how much work it takes to bring food from the farm to the table.

“They think you go to H-E-B or Walmart, and get your bread, and they don’t even realize the whole process of this little seed, and how hard it is to get that seed to that miller,” Texas Farm Bureau presenter Yvonne Dutschmann said.

According to the program, only two percent of the population is responsible for feeding the world through farming.
