CTC Nursing Program Honors

The Central Texas College Nursing and Allied Health department was recently ranked as one of the top nursing programs in the state according to RNCareers.org. In its fourth annual nursing school rankings for Texas, CTC is ranked as the 14th best in the state (out of 58 programs) and is one of the best nursing schools in the nation with a grade of 92.58 percent.

RNCareers, comprised of nurse educators, nurse practitioners, registered nurses and licensed vocational nurses, evaluated 1,892 RN programs on a number of factors important to nursing students. The factors included first-time national licensing pass passing rates, accreditation, program offerings and more. In its report, RNCareers noted an average pass rate on the registered nurse licensing exam was 85.90 percent. CTC recently reported a pass rate of 100 percent for its December 2018 graduates. Perfect pass rates were also recorded by the December 2017 class and May 2017 class. Last year, CTC’s combined pass rate for both the May and December ADN graduates was 95.52 percent – well above the RNCareers reported average.

CTC offers a 60-credit hour Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program. The five-semester curriculum culminates with an Associate of Applied Science degree. It is a pre-licensure nursing program which enables the graduate to take the Texas Board of Nursing National Council Licensure Examination-Registered Nurse and prepares graduates for professional practice in a variety of health care settings. The ADN program provides classroom instruction and coordinated supervised clinical experiences in the nursing care of clients in local affiliated hospitals and health care agencies.

A 53-credit hour Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) program is also available at CTC. The 12-month curriculum enables graduates to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination- Practical Nurse and prepares students for vocational nursing in a variety of healthcare settings. Both the LVN and ADN programs provide classroom instruction with hands-on training through coordinated, supervised clinical experiences.
